Dos Aguas Foundation is a Colombian nonprofit organisation working to improve the wellbeing of both communities and wildlife in the San Onofre region of Sucre, Colombia.
One of the foundation's priorities is the conservation of the tropical dry forest, one of the world's most endangered ecosystems and home to a rich diversity of endemic species. In Colombia, only around 8% of the original forest remains, leaving much of the landscape fragmented and threatening the long-term survival of wildlife. To help reconnect these isolated habitats, the foundation is leading a community-driven effort to establish a wildlife corridor between two protected areas.
To support this initiative, we developed a community engagement campaign centred around La Cumbre, a documentary following the efforts and challenges of local conservation leader Margarita as she works with neighbouring landowners, scientists, and community members to secure the corridor.
The campaign is designed to foster dialogue around the social and ecological importance of the tropical dry forest, strengthen community participation, and build financial support for the establishment of the wildlife corridor and the long-term restoration of this critically endangered ecosystem.
Impact Campaign
_________
La Cumbre, is a key component for our campaign to engage landowners, farmers, and community groups in dialogue around the conservation of the tropical dry forest in the San Onofre municipality in Sucre, Colombia.
Our community screenings, dialogues, and exhibitions, will feature the farmers and landowners that join our conservation effort, increasing their profile as nature stewards in the community. Simultaneously, we expect this to increase social pressure for those hesitant.
A wider reach in the Caribbean region in Colombia is also planned, in collaboration with regional conservation and arts & culture institutions.
